Isabella County Medical Care Facility provides a safe, secure and homelike environment for individuals that need additional specialized care related to Alzheimer’s disease or dementia.
Our specially trained nursing and activity staff ensures that each resident’s preferences and schedules are honored and accommodated to promote independence, participation, and enhance each individual’s quality of life.
Residents of our Memory Care Unit have a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease or dementia (early to middle stages) and
- have the ability to perform some self-care tasks with assistance,
- can ambulate independently or propel own wheelchair,
- able to sustain one of the diets provided,
- and can participate in and benefit from activity programming.
Our spacious, 20-bed secured memory care unit provides a specially designed living environment for residents in the early to middle stages of Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. The floor plan of the space consists of two dining areas and kitchens, living room, and a centralized nurses’ station. With the East Gate Garden just outside of the Memory Care Unit, many of the private and semi-private enhanced rooms enjoy garden views.
The Montessori for Ageing and Dementia Charter
We’ve implemented the Montessori for Ageing and Dementia approach.
All older adults and persons with dementia have the right to a caring community that is aligned with the individual’s needs, interests, abilities, skills and strengths for optimal social, emotional, physical and cognitive support. This environment is carefully prepared to meet and nurture the needs of each person, providing opportunity for success, choice, enhanced independence and self-initiated activity. Lives are enriched through the engagement in roles, routines and activities, fostering a sense of belonging and well-being.
